Uses
Other comments :
In comparision to Alpha-Ionone and Beta-Ionone for example, Allyl Alpha-Ionone has a much more fruity note.
Stability :
Stable in perfumes and diverse functional bases, except antiperspirants and alkaline products such as detergents or bleach.
Uses in perfumery :
Allyl Alpha-Ionone is used in all types of fragrances, for fruity notes. To be combined with other ionones, lactones, woody-ambergris, coniferous, masculine and chypre notes. Gives body and diffusion to the fragrance.
Year of discovery :
1948
Isomerism :
The Allyl alpha-Ionone used in perfumery is a racemic mixture of cis and trans diastereoisomers of the molecule.
Synthesis precursor :
Allyl alpha-Ionone is not a precursor to the synthesis of another compound of olfactory interest.
Natural availability :
Allyl Alpha-Ionone is not available in its natural state.
Synthesis route :
Allyl alpha-Ionone is a pseudoionone synthesized by route similar to conventional ionones. Instead of being the result of a condensation between Citral and acetone, Allyl alpha-Ionone results from a condensation between Citral and allyl acetone. An acid treatment allows to cyclize the intermediate product that is obtained during the previous process.
