Barley is one of the most widely grown cereals in the world. In 2017, its production volume, which is estimated at 150 million tonnes, made it the fourth most cultivated plant in the world (after rice, corn and wheat).
Barley is one of the most widely used cereals for making malt (Please note that malt is not a plant, but a process carried out on cereal seeds to separate the sugars).

Uses in perfumery :
Use in gourmand/ food notes thanks to its warm, cereal, coumarined and torrefied facets. The top note is very fruity rum so it allow to support red fruits accords for example. Very interesting for its roasted facets.
Major Components :
- Due to the roasting process prior to extraction, this extract contains many pyrazines, pyridines, furfural and all their respective derivates. It also contains many different acids.
